Recap of 2019: Review of the Year

So I’m a little bit late to the party, but I wanted to do a quick post on my recap of 2019... To begin with, I can’t believe we are already in 2020 and a new decade! Some of the trips I have planned for this year have been in the works for quite some time so I’m excited that the time has almost come.

2019 was a pretty good one as well, though. I went on 5 trips abroad, 3 of which were to new countries. This time last year we were flying down the slopes of the French Alps, with me especially enjoying the mountain views. It was the first time doing a ‘family holiday’ since I was 20 and both my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the week.

In May we visited the first new country of the year – North Macedonia. We spent 3 nights in Lake Ohrid and had great weather on the day we arrived but then suffered through a lot of rain the rest of the trip!

With June came the main trip of the year, gorgeous Slovenia. This small country more than lived up to my high expectations, it was absolutely amazing and I would thoroughly recommend it. I have a number of posts with lots of pictures so do check those out.

We made our last trip of the year to Luxembourg for the August bank holiday. We spent the 4 days camping by the river and doing day trips; the whole thing was as idyllic as it could possibly sound and one again exceeded my expectations.

Outside of typical holidays, we visited Spain in July for a wedding, enjoyed a spa day in March and a night away in East Anglia (featuring a hot tub) for our 5th anniversary.

What is funny to do is look at my Travel Plans for 2019 post and comparing my expectations for my year versus how it actually went!

Finally, taking a look at Instagram, the below are my most-liked photos on the platform in 2019 – mostly featuring Slovenia and Val Thorens!

I haven’t put any thought into my favourite photos from the year (for comparison) but below are a selection that jumped out at me when I was browsing now.

All in all, I have had a good year but really looking forward to the year ahead. I will be talking about my travel plans for the year in a post coming soon so keep an eye out! Wishing everyone the best year.
