A picture tells a thousand words right? I'm going to be taking a trip down memory lane, easily done by going through photo archives, to some of my past travels. I will tell the story with some of my favourite photos as a guide. I hope you enjoy!
I landed in Cairns (after a 7.5 hour layover in Sydney Airport...) on the 20th of April 2017. I was about to embark on around 8 weeks of exploration across Australia and New Zealand. This post is going to be focusing on the first part of that trip - the East Coast of Australia. I did this part of my trip as part of a group which was definitely a good option as a solo traveller over such a large area! I started north in Cairns and ended in Sydney (not included here but I will do a separate post on it).
On my first day in Cairns I visited Mission Beach to do a skydive... I was *blessed* with awful grey and rainy weather for my beach skydive (may as well have done it in the UK!). They weren't even sure that everyone would be able to skydive because of how bad the weather was! I did manage to skydive though, as the below pictures prove. I was the first to jump which means that you have to sit on the edge of the plane waiting for what seems like a LONG time. Perfect for building up the stress. During the actual free-fall though it's just complete euphoria for 60 seconds. Words can't describe!
Also from Cairns we took a day trip to the famous Great Barrier Reef (which I had to delay by a day because of being so hungover on goon (boxed wine)... peak Australia backpacker). I didn't have a go pro at the time so these photos are from a fellow traveller on the trip with me.
After this time in Cairns, the next stop was Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays - with the highlight being Whitehaven Beach with the silkiest sand.
In the last picture above you can see a sexy stinger suit which is very important unless you want to get stung by dangerous jelly fish! Yay Australia!

Wine tasting, everyone's favourite activity right? It was also some sort of exotic fruit farm. I have no idea what any of these things are but they look cool and the food and wine was good! It was called Ohana Winery and I would recommend.
Another highlight of the East Coast is Fraser Island. For me, the best part of this day trip was the unreal Lake McKenzie. It's also famous for wild dingoes which we saw from our vehicle on the beach.

Also on my trip and included in some of Instagram pictures below were Noosa (pictures 6, 12), Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (pictures 7-9), Byron Bay (picture 10), Surfers Paradise (picture 11) and Townsville (picture 13).
If for some reason you need more pictures, check out my Insta'd pics from the trip below!
